Branded drugs are the medicines
which have a trade name in the industry and these drugs have been
manufactured by famous Pharmaceutical Companies. They are attached by a
patent. When a company applies for a patent for its drug, this means
that no other company will have the right to produce the same drug and
sell it. It is only the prerogative of the main drug making company.
They have the sole rights for anything related to the medicine. As
compared to the generic drugs, the name of brand drug will be much
simpler. We are living in an age where mankind has done lot of progress
when it comes to science and technology. Every year or so, a new
discovery has been made. Scientists are coming up with new gadgets and
other gizmos of varying degrees which awe us to a great extent. We all

these branded ones cost a tad more than the generics. This is because
the manufacturing company has to invest a lot of money for various
activities in order to publicize the drug to the masses. There is a way
out to the people through promotional campaigns, advertisements and
other things which will help the people to know about the powers of the
branded drugs. Apart from that, a considerable amount of money is also spent on Research and development which is a very important process. After the drug is ready, it has to pass through the government for its final approval and a huge sum of money is also spent during this vital process. After that, the media has to know about the arrival of this drug, so ads in newspapers, internet and Television has to be given and this again requires spending a good amount of money. Due to all these expenditures, the branded drugs are available at somewhat costlier rates when compared to the generic ones. |
